In winter of 2015, the Skuna Bay team travelled to Norway to meet our farming colleagues. We visited their farms, learning of the Nordic commitment to rearing excellent salmon and their daily passion for perfection. We shared with them the Craftsman Standard so they could adopt our practices for their Chefs. They have learned well.

The Iceberg-laden waters of the Nordic Seas are harsh and frigid, where only the truly dedicated thrive. There is good salmon here as has been for centuries – the cold coastal waters are perfect for fish. It’s not easy to rear salmon in this environment but for those determined to farm in these waters, the rewards are considerable.

Harvested from Norwegian farms in Norway's Southwestern Rogaland Region
The network of deep fjords allows us to engage in deep water farming. The deep sites ensure a constant temperature which can be maintained year round. These optimal conditions have enabled us to grow fish of outstanding quality with high color and slightly lower fat content.
Reared in the wild Westfjords of snowy Iceland located in Arnarfjörður, the second largest fjord in the Icelandic Westfjords area. Within these clean surroundings by the Arctic Circle, are a total of six farming sites in three neighboring fjords (Arnarfjörður, Tálknafjörður and Patreksfjörður).
